An investigation analyzes peer violence in school, also called bullying, and highlights the role of adults as mediators and support for young students involved. The work considers violence from a social point of view and covers physical as well as symbolic aspects. The researchers carried out workshops to raise awareness about the topic and make violence unnatural for young people.

Researchers study the aggressor justification mechanisms in the oral and written discourse of women who suffer gender violence. In the study it is remarked the idea existent in society of female roles’ determination as complementary of male roles’ determination. In a study carried out in schools in risk contexts caused by extreme poverty, researchers developed a program to promote positive emotions in children, training teachers so that they could include it as part of the curricula. The children who experience positive emotions (such as happiness, calmness, gratitude, self-esteem and satisfaction) show greater respect for the others, greater cooperation, personal value, self trust, greater self control and capacity to enjoy.

Evolutionary Development of Children from Córdoba according to their Drawings

A study about the drawings made by 175 children between 2 and 12 years old revealed that middle class children overcome the expected middle levels of graphic expression for their age; they use more color and incorporate actions to their works. Although their mates of marginal areas have a more adequate representation of the human figure, their works are less creative. Scientists recommend the early access to school to facilitate the academic performance and acquisition of abilities.

The Link between Nutrition and Socialization in Adolescents

Of 375 adolescents from Tucumán consulted, the 27% has risky nutritional habits because they want to loose weight and the 17% present body dissatisfaction. This was evidenced by an interdisciplinary study and concluded that shyness and anxiety are the main consequences in the social behavior. The researchers carried out training tasks in school in social vulnerability contexts to promote from the institution healthy nutritional habits.

A favor de la despenalización del consumo privado de droga

El Centro de Estudios Avanzados en Drogadependencias y Sida (CEADS) de la UNR estimó positivo el fallo de la Corte Suprema porque “el usuario deja de ser delincuente y vuelve a considerarse ciudadano”. Los especialistas que trabajan en el Centro valoraron la prevención para los no iniciados en el consumo, la asistencia para el que necesita ayuda y la alternativa que representa el fallo para los que no pueden dejar de consumir drogas, dado que es fundamental que el Estado no castigue y que el sistema de salud dé alternativas para que su vida pueda ser lo más saludable posible. Ejemplificaron con el caso de Portugal, que modificó su legislación desde 2001 y se redujo el consumo.

Resiliencia, o la capacidad de fortalecerse con la adversidad

La resiliencia es la capacidad de adaptarse a circunstancias amenazantes y salir fortalecido de las adversidades. En conjunto con especialistas de Brasil y México, un equipo de investigadores de la UNR analizó las variables psicosociales que predicen la resiliencia entre los jóvenes y adolescentes. En el estudio aparece la idea de que las vinculaciones observadas entre bienestar y resiliencia estarían indicando que el apoyo emocional dentro del hogar y los intercambios sociales positivos influirían significativamente sobre la capacidad para afrontar situaciones adversas. El trabajo también evidenció que tanto el bienestar, la inteligencia emocional como el optimismo, son factores que propician la resiliencia.
